my father sits in the dark
With my photography, I want to create images that evoke emotions. I want to create images that will touch viewers.
I want to create awareness about a progressive, irreversible, and heartbreaking disease called Alzheimer’s.
***
I’m in the process of documenting my father’s battle with this disease.
My hopes and dreams are to increase public awareness, and to help myself cope, as I slowly lose my daddy.
***
“Photo is a small voice, at best, but sometimes – just sometimes – one photograph or a group of them can lure our senses into awareness.
Much depends upon the viewer;
in some,
photographs can summon enough emotion to be a catalyst to thought.”
W. Eugene Smith

this makes me cry, it is so full of love and bravery (both yours and his). a treasure…brenna
Thanks Brenna for your kind comments.
Beautiful image Robin with the evocative morning light. I lost my Mom to Alzheimer’s 6 years ago. I’ll be happy to share more with you as time goes on, but for now, just wanted to let you know, my thoughts are with you and I know the road you are traveling-
Thanks so much Mary. I will certainly take you up on that as time goes on…I also appreciate the feeling of the image. It really struck me when I walked by him in the family living room with that incredible light…
This image brings up so much emotion. Such beautiful lighting telling such a sad, sad story. Love you so much! Gh

Hi,
Thanks for sharing the wonderful pictures!
Bodil
Beautiful and moving image.
Thanks so much Kimberly and I appreciate you stopping by!
Your picture left me completely speechless. My mother is suffering from Alzheimer, too, so I know the background by myself. But your photo captures the whole story of your dad in one picture. I wish both of you all the best. It’s a long goodbye.
Thank you Katrin. My heart goes out to you as well.
This picture, so sad.
The only blessing I think is that the sufferer, towards the end, does not know what is happening, but the agony of those around is something that is very real.
Very telling image. When we cared for my MIL, my husband said one of the hardest things for him was to become the parent as his mother became the child. I pray for strength for you through the coming times.
Thank you so much Susan for your warm thoughts! It is such a dreadful dreadful disease.
Hello Lady! I love your photography,
We have a tiny condo in Arizona, and would love to get some of your cactus pictures,
Do you sell them? Im from Canada,
Appreciate your response,
Kathy
