Knitting…beading…

A very good friend of mine recently mailed me the book The Friday Night Knitting Club. If you haven’t read it you should if you want a quick read about a bunch of diverse women and how their relationships develop over time by attending this Friday night club. I liked it quite a bit because it takes place in the Upper West Side where yours truly lives. Anyway, I started a beading class at the Jewish Community Center just a few blocks away. Not that I want to make a bunch of jewelry, but it’s something I always wanted to do and learn the basic concepts. One never knows when one might need the knowledge of how to crimp. Surely that could be a life saving technique at some point in one’s life.

So my beading class is now what I consider The Wednesday Night Beading Club. Great gals and lots of good conversation. And no, I’m not going to write a book about it. Hey BB, have you finished this book yet? Oh, and by the way, in the photo below is my grandmother’s afghan that she knitted many many years ago. And she’s the one that started this whole New York thing!!! And I just love her for it. Rest in peace grandmother. I know you are smiling and loving that I’m having a blast in this big city!
