Who doesn’t love these amazing little creatures? Don’t they just remind us to not take life so seriously? Just dancing around…touching down here and there…always giving pleasure…
To the native Americans the butterfly is a symbol of change and joy…a miracle of transformation and resurrection…a symbol of rebirth and regeneration.
About a year ago, the Butterfly Wonderland opened on the property of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian community, an area comprised of two native American tribes – the Pima and the Maricopa. The community borders the Arizona cities of Scottsdale, Mesa and Fountain Hills. Always looking for something new to do in the desert, as well as a place to photograph…well off I went to the butterfly wonderland!
Your twenty dollar entry fee (adults – children are $10) will give you a special edited version of the IMAX film, Flight of the Butterflies (with 3D glasses) as well as time in the butterfly conservatory (a large glass atrium) and a couple of other exhibits.
Would I go back? Would I take others there? Hmmm….Well…I think it’s a touch overpriced, but hopefully since it’s so new other exhibits will be added in the future. I just think about a family of four (parents with two children) and that’s $60 bucks! Yikes! But, these little creatures always make my heart sing…and for that? Often that’s priceless.
