Den update

Yes, I was gently reminded by a faithful blog follower that I haven’t posted any photos of the Gotham den for many many months. Well not much has changed, but since I finally cleaned (cause company was coming) I thought it was a good time to take a photo or two. Love my den, my little cocoon.

Rescue me

Ok. I think I’m going to find a big rock and hide under it. WHERE have I been?

I wake up this morning and do what I always do. Go to the window with my hot mango tea and check out the street activity. Well during the night Hollywood showed up.

So needing to attend to an errand, I make a dash from the den and learn that RESCUE ME is being film. Now keep in mind I don’t watch that much TV. (Yes, I MUST watch Brian Williams every night cuz he’s my man.) But rarely do I watch it unless it’s some type of news.

Now I think I’ve just found my favorite new program. Where have I been for four seasons of RESCUE ME? After seeing the signs “no parking” due to filming, I was curious to see who was on MY street. Could it be Sex and the City gals? NO. It was RESCUE ME. Never heard of it. So once again I google. Say no more. This show revolves around the lives of the men in a NYC firehouse. FDNY. God I love men in uniforms. I will now be a very dedicated fan.

Rock Center

Well one can’t be in NYC without stopping by to see the tree. I’ve been so lucky over the years to have seen this sight many many times. But it’s still special each and every time I see it.

Tell me the truth

OK, call me slow.

I’m walking home from midtown and see the following sign in a salon window.

Now, I’m very familiar with “a brazilian,” but a brazilian blowout? Now tell me the truth, how many of you knew what a brazilian blowout was??? Well yours truly had to google it. So blow me over. First few google entries – “Everybody has been talking about brazilian blowouts lately.” Really? Nobody talked to me! So I learned that it’s a method of hair straightening that doesn’t use toxic chemicals. Now tell me the truth. Did you know this???

Love, Loss and What I Wore

Laugh out loud kinda funny. That’s my review of this play that I saw in the intimate little Westside Theatre last night. Ok, first the theatre. It was constructed in 1889 as a German Baptist church and then a theatre since the early 1980′s. It reopened in 1991 after an extensive renovation. Adorable. It always blows me away when I research and find out that these buildings have so much history. That’s the beauty of living in this city. My friend Abby and I had front row center seats. The best in the house. (We’ve only had our tickets for about 3 months so that’s what you get when you plan EARLY!)

The play uses clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny stories that all of us girls can relate to. (We all can remember exactly what we were wearing on that first date!) To top it off, a portion of the production’s proceeds benefit the Dress for Success charity to provides clothes to low-income women. How cool is that!

If you’re looking for a fun girls night out, check it out. You won’t be disappointed!

Alice

During the past few months, I’ve been looking for a jigsaw puzzle to work on during these cold wintry days. Anyway, after lots of searching I finally found it. And it is soooo appropriate!

Alice in WonderlandWho in the world am I? Ah, that’s the great puzzle!

500 pieces…wonder how long it’s going to take me to find out who I am?

Travel night…part II

Shocking…but there is a very good possibility I will be on my way to Newark in about 45 minutes. So it’s either sleeping in the Gotham Den or in one of these rockers here in Charlotte. I just can’t wait to see MY city in all its white glory! Whether it be tonight or in the morning! Night night.
