Howie loved his latest visitor!

VK and Howie

Well Howie is loving his new outfit and finding out about the Continental Street Narc Whisperer Society. We both enjoyed having another fun-filled week in the Gotham Den! More to come on those adventures, but right now I’m off to a wedding in the Poconos!

Busy day!

I started my day by taking a nice long bike ride on the Hudson River Greenway.  It was a beautiful morning and I took advantage of a day with no rain!  Check out below the fun metal park shelter I came across.  Afterwards, I took the subway and spent a few hours roaming around in Soho and then hurried back to meet a spin buddy visiting from Scottsdale.  We met for dinner at The Grand Tier, an excellent restaurant in the Metropolitan Opera House before enjoying the ballet with an incredible performance by Nina Ananiashvili. (Thanks Mary!)  Fantastic and busy day!

Howie enjoyed meeting more of my good friends!  It was a quick visit, but once again lots of fun, laughter and partying in the Gotham Den!

Learning to ride in the city! Yikes!

Savvy Cyclist 1I spent Sunday at an all day cycling class.  Yep, learning to ride in traffic on the crazy streets of NYC!  If someone would have told me that for 3 hours I would be inches away from cars, trucks, buses and taxis on some of the busiest streets in NYC, I would have told them they were absolutely CRAZY!  But, it happened!  We met at the Youth Hostel about 40 blocks north of the Gotham Den.  A group of 14, we spent the first couple of hours in a classroom and then a couple in the basket ball court of the hostel practicing quick stops, rock dodges, avoidance weaves, you name it.  Around 3 in the afternoon we went out into the crazy world of Harlem and the Upper West Side right when the Puerto Rican parade was nearing an end.  Now I have a little bit of New York attitude! Finally! Sun!

Henry Hudson ParkwayAfter a week of what seemed like nothing but rain and clouds, the sun popped out on Friday afternoon and the Henry Hudson Parkway was a “parking lot” with people leaving the city.  I took the opportunity to scope out the north end of Riverside Park.  Beautiful ending to a wet soggy week!

It's been 3 weeks!

And it just seems like I arrived yesterday! So I decided to splurge and have a treat (Red Velvet, my favorite!) at the Magnolia Bakery which just happens to be located 1/2 block from the Gotham Den. Which of course is VERY dangerous, but a treat every so often never hurts anyone…But I’m sure glad I went to spin today!

Found my Fitness Center!

Reebok Sports Club

With the recession comes much more reasonable rates for the best fitness centers in the city.  So to my benefit, I’m now a member of the Reebok Sports Club a block from my apartment!  And what could get better than that?  Why a Starbucks right across the street!  Oh, and did I mention the 60 bike spin class six times a day?
